(Posted Oct 25, 2013) – The Cook County Hospital Department of Trauma & Burn is seeking an additional full-time trauma, burn, and critical care surgeon. This surgeon will join our current eight member trauma & burn group. Located in Chicago, the Cook County Trauma & Burn unit is an Illinois Department of Public Health designated Level 1 Adult and Pediatric trauma center and one of three Burn centers in the Chicago area. Successful candidates will be board certified/board eligible in general surgery with added certification in surgical critical care. A commitment to resident and fellow education and an active interest in research is required. Academic appointment to the Department of General Surgery at Rush University will be based upon the candidate’s qualifications. The position involves on average of six in-house trauma calls per month including coverage of the Trauma Intensive Care Unit. This surgeon will also participate in Burn surgery and Burn ICU coverage. Acute care surgery coverage will depend on the needs of the Department. There is a full complement of junior and senior surgical and emergency medicine residents as well as three surgical critical care fellows per year. The Trauma & Burn unit stands alone within the Cook County Health and Hospital System. The unit is the first comprehensive trauma unit of its kind. It is comprised of 15 emergency resuscitation beds, 18 critical care beds and 22 step-down beds. (Posted Nov 4, 2013) – The Division of Trauma at Cooper University Hospital, the only ACS Verified, state designated Level I trauma center in southern New Jersey, is recruiting an additional Trauma/Surgical Critical Care/Emergency surgeon with strong clinical, operative, academic, and educational interests. With an abundance of critical blunt and penetrating injured adults and children, a plentiful and diverse operative and resuscitative trauma experience awaits. The trauma service admits approximately 3000 adult and pediatric trauma patients to the trauma service annually, and the trauma team is responsible for the care of patients in several newly renovated areas including our own discrete 3400 square foot Trauma Admitting/Resuscitation Area and 16 bed Trauma ICU, as well as our 2 bay helipad resuscitation area, Trauma Step Down Unit, and Trauma floor. In addition to trauma coverage, we provide 24/7 ED coverage for emergency general surgery and 24/7 ICU coverage for the Surgical Critical Care Service. We maintain an ACGME accredited Surgical Critical Care fellowship, freestanding Surgery and Emergency Medicine residencies, and have a medical student class of 50/year from the new Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. Our trauma “teams” include Surgical Critical Care fellows, Surgical and Emergency Medicine residents, nurse practitioners, and numerous outside rotating Surgery and Emergency Medicine residents. Philadelphia and several beautiful suburbs with top-tier schools are a few minutes away. Academic appointments are through Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. Compensation and academic appointment will be commensurate with experience. Board Certification/Eligibility in General Surgery and Surgical Care Critical Care are required.

Boston Medical Center includes a Level 1 trauma center in the City of Boston that admits ~2000 patients annually of whom 20% suffer from penetrating trauma. The Division of Acute Care Surgery faculty members also admit ~1000 emergency general surgery patients of whom two-thirds require an operation. One 10 bed surgical intensive care unit is dedicated to Acute Care Surgery. Clinical responsibilities include a broad practice with a high volume of trauma and emergency general surgery admissions including a surgical critical care service.
