The new facilities have leveraged decades of experience to design a brand new space, literally from the ground up, that will modernize and expand our capabilities in areas including IR, Neuro IR, Neurosurgery, Ortho Trauma and Trauma Critical Care. Penn Medicine is committed to ensuring that the Penn Medicine Trauma Center at Presbyterian Medical Center will provide world-class care to trauma patients on Day 1. To be successful, we need uniquely qualified leaders in Advanced Practice with the skill, experience and passion to fill new roles in the expanded Trauma program. Announcing: Critical Care Advanced Practitioner Fellowship Program (6 Open positions for a 10 month Fellowship, beginning March 3, 2014) This is a post graduate fellowship program designed for acute certified nurse practitioners and certified physician assistants who have a lifelong commitment to learning and seeking a career in Traumatology, Surgical Critical Care & Emergency Surgery and NeuroCritical Care at Penn Medicine with opportunity for employment following successful completion of program. The purpose is to train qualified nurse practitioners and physician assistants to function as clinical expert providers in the specialty tracks of Trauma, Surgical, Neuro and Emergency Critical Care through a 10-month program-of thorough, didactic and clinical curriculum. Department physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants participate as mentor/preceptors in the program. The focus of training is in the development of expertise in critical care specialty tracks noted where trainees will participate in 60 hours of work per week (50 clinical and 10 academic hours) including simulation training in common scenarios. Each fellow is required to participate and pass simulation competency requirements. At the end of the program-Post Master’s certification granted (3 CUs) from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. You may also be eligible for Loan Forgiveness (maximum total $40,000). **Along with submitting this on-line application, please include the following: • A one-page personal narrative describing professional goals and interest in post graduate training in Traumatology, Surgical Critical Care or Emergency Surgery or NeuroCritical Car • A resume/CV, including a description of past critical care, trauma or neuro experience, if any. Trauma and Critical Care or NeuroCritical Care experience preferred. • Three (3) letters of recommendation, at least one from your current or recent clinical supervisor/ physician Note: To be considered into the fellowship program you will need to commit in writing to a 24 month (minimum) term of employment at Penn Medicine at current competitive salaries after successful completion of the program. **Successful completion of the program and credentialing through the University of Pennsylvania Medical Board will be required to be considered for employment. **All applications will be reviewed by Recruitment and the Program Director, and finalists for the Fellowship positions will be contacted to interview by Phone/Video in November 2013. Minimum Requirements • Master’s prepared Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (Must be New to Practice in Advanced Practice) • Pennsylvania state licensure and acute care nurse practitioner certification or certified Physician assistant is required. • Ability to commit and work at least 60 hours (includes class time) per week (including nights, weekends and holidays) for the entire 10 month program. • BLS, ACLS required. • Commit to 24 months (two years, full time) of Penn Medicine work following successful completion of Fellowship program and offer of employment. • Critical Care background/Trauma/NeuroCritical Care experience preferred. • A Health Care Assessment, references and personal interview is required. In addition you must clear all required drug screen and back ground checks and attest to a non-tobacco user to be eligible. (Posted Nov 19, 2013) – The Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Surgery is seeking a BC/BE General Surgeon with Critical Care Qualifications to join the Division of Trauma/Critical Care/Acute Care Surgery. We are a group of ten surgeons who cover our Trauma service, Critical Care service, and Acute Care surgery service. Opportunities exist for all general surgeons to develop a general, surgical private practice as well. Our position is at the rank of an Assistant or Associate Professor. Our Level I Trauma Center, Froedtert Hospital, is the only Level I Adult Center in the Southeastern Wisconsin region. In 2013 at our Level I hospital, we saw almost 4,000 trauma patients, 1100 critical care patients and over 800 ACS patients requiring a surgical procedure. We also staff one of our community hospitals in the Froedtert health system. This is a Level III trauma center where we provide the trauma coverage as well as cover their critical care unit. The Division is actively engaged in clinical and translational research. Our current research activities focus on vascular reactivity in shock, clinical outcomes, and surgical education. Further development of our translational research effort or clinical outcomes is a primary goal of the division. Salary and research support is negotiable depending upon experience and academic grade.

Incumbent will work every third weekend and two holidays per year.** The Christiana Hospital Trauma Program is recruiting for the position of Trauma Nurse Practitioner. The selected candidate will perform advanced nursing practice in the care of trauma and surgical patients. The selected candidate will collaborate with trauma attendings and surgeons, neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, trauma hospitalists and a variety of other subspecialists in the care of trauma patients. Both the surgical management and medical management can be accomplished through utilization of approved protocols and procedures. The candidate will also facilitate Trauma Program initiatives related to verification and designation as a Level 1 Trauma Center which includes performance improvement initiatives, injury prevention efforts and teaching opportunities. In addition to day shift hours, the candidate is required to assume on-call hours if needed, evening, weekend and holiday obligations. This position requires a Masters degree in nursing with eligibility for APN licensure in Delaware. The candidate must have or be eligible to obtain prescriptive authority. At least 3 years experience as an RN in adult and/or pediatric trauma/surgical critical care or emergency nursing. In addition to the above requirements the selected candidate must be self-motivated and energetic to work in a fast-past and growing population. (Posted Dec 10, 2013) – The Ross Trauma Center at Carolinas Medical Center, an ACS verified Level I trauma center in Charlotte, NC is seeking an ABS certified/eligible general surgeon with fellowship training in Trauma/ Surgical Critical Care, or Acute Care Surgery to join 12 acute care surgeons in the practice of trauma, surgical critical care, and emergency general surgery. Carolinas Medical Center is an 874 bed, free standing academic medical center which is the flagship tertiary care hospital for Carolinas Healthcare System, the second largest publicly owned system in the nation. Carolinas Medical Center features a 29 bed dedicated Surgical/Trauma ICU and a separate 29 bed Neurosurgical ICU. The Surgical Critical Care Service provides critical care support for multiple service lines including neurosurgery, hepatobiliary surgery, transplant surgery, surgical oncology, vascular, and others while providing consultation and management to over 1,000 patients annually. The Acute Care Surgery Service performs over 1,500 cases per year. The Trauma Program is the busiest in the state of North Carolina, with more than 3,000 adult trauma admissions, and 1,700 operative procedures annually. Pediatric trauma care at the Levine Children’s Hospital is an integral part of the Trauma Program, and the 234 bed children’s hospital, located on the campus of the medical center, is currently seeking designation as an ACS-verified Level II Pediatric Trauma Center. Carolinas Medical Center is designated as a branch of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine, and all of our current acute care surgeons have faculty appointments in the medical school. Our Department of Surgery also sponsors a surgical critical care fellowship, with plans for an acute care surgery fellowship. Responsibilities include administrative oversight of the designated Level 1 trauma center; coordination of all aspects of the operations of the Trauma Services Department which functions in the Acute Surgery Model; direct patient care; teaching surgical residents and medical students from the Mercer University School of Medicine; and leading all aspects of the institution’s participation in the regional organization and delivery of trauma care. The Chief of Trauma & Surgical Critical Care reports directly to the Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer. Memorial served approximately 3,000 trauma patients in 2012. It is the home of the M. Gage Ochsner, M.D. Institute for Injury Research and Prevention. Currently, there are nine full-time physicians in the trauma service including general, trauma and orthopaedic trauma surgeons. The Chief of Trauma Services & Surgical Critical Care is responsible to the Chief Medical Officer for coordination of all aspects of the professional practice of trauma services and surgical critical care, including but not limited to coordinating attending physician coverage for all of the section’s patient care activities.
