RIH is a 719-bed, not-for-profit, acute care hospital and the major teaching affiliate of the Warren Alpert School of Medicine of Brown University. It is the state's only Level I Trauma Center with over 3,700 trauma patients admitted each year. The Division cares for all trauma and surgical critical care patients, as well as emergency general surgery patients. This individual will join and provide leadership for our 9 surgeon division, providing coverage for Trauma, Surgical Critical Care, and Emergency Surgery at the only ACS Verified, state designated Level I trauma center, and tertiary care center in southern New Jersey. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 8-10 years of clinical practice, demonstrable commitment to clinical education and research, and prior directorial experience at a Level I trauma center. The Director of Trauma is responsible for the oversight of both the adult and pediatric trauma programs, including the research and educational activities of the center. The director will work in collaboration with the Trauma Program Manager, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Emergency Medicine and other clinical and administrative departments to assure excellence in patient care and to maintain the verification and designation of the Trauma Center. The trauma center is the busiest in the region, and the Trauma service admits nearly 3000 adult and pediatric trauma patients annually. The trauma team is responsible for the care of patients in several newly renovated areas including our 3400 square foot Trauma Resuscitation Area and 16 bed Trauma/Surgical ICU, as well as a 2 bay helipad resuscitation area, Trauma Step Down Unit, and Trauma floor. In addition to trauma coverage, we provide 24/7 ED coverage for emergency general surgery and 24/7 ICU coverage for the Surgical Critical Care Service. We maintain an ACGME accredited Surgical Critical Care fellowship, freestanding Surgery and Emergency Medicine residencies, and provide clinical experience for students from the new Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. Our trauma “teams” include Surgical Critical Care fellows, Surgical and Emergency Medicine residents, nurse practitioners, and numerous outside rotating Surgery and Emergency Medicine residents. Philadelphia and several beautiful suburbs with top-tier schools are a few minutes away. Candidates must be Board Certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care, and eligible for licensure in the State of New Jersey. (Posted Feb 13, 2014) – TRAUMA SURGEON FULL TIME ACADEMIC OPPORTUNITY The Department of Surgery at Louisiana Health Sciences Center at Shreveport seeks applicants for an academic trauma surgery position. Must be BC/BE in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care, and eligible for active Louisiana Medical Licensure. Graduating Critical Care Fellows are welcomed to apply. This position is for an Assistant, Associate or full Professor of Surgery. The successful candidate will need to have a strong commitment to teaching, interest in research and scholarly activities, and solid clinical experience. Resources for basic and clinical research in trauma/critical care are outstanding, with numerous opportunities for collaborative clinical and basic science projects. The salary is based on Association of American Medical Colleges benchmark levels with the opportunity to return additional income based on collections from general surgery patients. The LSU Health Sciences Center at Shreveport admits more than 1,500 trauma patients each year, 18% of which related to penetrating trauma. There are 22 critical care beds dedicated to trauma care. If desired, there is opportunity to participate in the care of non-trauma acute surgical emergencies as well. Shreveport is located in the northwest corner of Louisiana, 15 miles from Texas, and 185 miles directly east of Dallas on Interstate 20. Shreveport and its sister city across the Red River (Bossier City) have a population of just over 250,000. Grant is a 645-bed, nationally recognized and growing Level 1 Trauma Center in Columbus, Ohio. The group admits over 4,000 patients annually drawing from a 52 county region and supports an emergency department with an annual census of over 88,000. This position will provide acute surgery care coverage on a rotating basis, supporting critical care and emergency surgery cases. Grant has trained trauma specialists dedicated to trauma in orthopedics, neurosurgery, plastics, and vascular surgery. Subspecialty support is provided in ophthalmology, ob/gyn, anesthesia, urology, as well as in-house radiology and interventional radiology. In 2006 and 2005, Grant's Coronary Care Unit and Surgical Intensive Care Unit/Trauma Critical Care Unit each received the Beacon Award for Critical Care Excellence from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN). Education, research, outreach, injury prevention and substance abuse complement Grant’s Trauma services, making it an exceptional program.
