The Medical Director/Trauma surgeon will be part of a growing general surgery practice at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center (BTMC). The successful candidate will provide direction in establishing the Trauma program and leading the facility through the accreditation process. As Medical Director, they will provide administrative leadership for the program, and work shifts on a combined Trauma and General surgery call schedule. The Research Director will lead all of the research efforts in the Department of Surgery with a special focus on Trauma–Critical care surgery. This will require an intricate knowledge of hospital organization, clinical work flow and clinical documentation. Expertise in clinical observational studies, outcomes research and comparative effectiveness research is a requirement. The candidate should possess excellent interpersonal skills and work well within team dynamics. Excellence in organizational skills and scientific writing is a must. Evidence of scholarly and scientific productivity is essential. The candidate should possess some familiarity with grant writing but, a history a funded grant is not essential. Research and work experience in the clinical domain is required. It is also expected that candidate will have familiarity in executing regulatory and IRB requirements. Upon presentation of the proper credentials the Department will offer a faculty position at the Assistant Professor level ( or higher) at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

(Posted Mar 25, 2014) – Mercy Clinic General & Trauma Surgery is recruiting a 6th surgeon to join their group in Springfield, MO. The ideal candidate is BC/BE in General Surgery with fellowship training in Surgical Critical Care or a keen interest/experience in Trauma. In addition to Trauma, the group covers General Surgery and Burns and provides Critical Care on their own patients. The group practices at Mercy Hospital Springfield, an 866-bed facility which is a state verified (both MO and AR) Level I Trauma Center. The hospital also has a 9 bed Burn Unit which is the only Burn Unit in the region. The hospital sees over 98,000 patients in the ED and admits approximately 2800 Trauma patients with 300 pediatric and 300 burn patients per year. The Trauma service serves a population of over 1 million. The catchment area which is serviced by 5 IFR rated Mercy helicopters which are strategically placed throughout area. A full range of medical services are provided with the exception of Transplantation. The Medical staff and Administration are extremely supportive of the Trauma service and are committed to providing exceptional trauma and burn care. When fully staffed, the typical group rotation is two weeks on and one week off with one in three weekend call. Six physician assistants form an integral part of the Trauma service. The candidate will join our current team in working towards ACS Level II Trauma status. The Trauma Surgeon reports directly to the Trauma Program Director and will be responsible for providing trauma, surgical critical care and acute care surgery coverage. Candidate requirements: M.D. or D.O. from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy or a recent surgical resident graduate with at least five (5) years of training within a Level I Trauma Center. A NYS Medical License, Board Eligibility or Board Certification in General Surgery with current BLS, ACLS, ATLS & PALS certifications and a component of on-call coverage are also required.
