The Acute Care Surgery team offers trauma care, surgical care for patients with critical illness, burn and wound care, emergency and general surgery. Research programs in translational and clinical outcomes are in place and the candidate would be expected to participate in these efforts. The successful candidate will have completed a Fellowship in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care and/or Acute Care Surgery. Candidates must have a strong interest in Trauma, Burn, and Critical Care to include Cardiovascular Critical Care and be BC/BE in Surgical Critical Care. Opportunities for participation in Emergency and Elective General Surgery are available and will be part of the selected candidate’s clinical activities. Interest in developing an Acute Care Surgery fellowship would be a plus. Maine Medical Center (MMC) has 637 licensed beds and is the state’s leading tertiary care hospital and ACS verified Level I Trauma Center, with a full complement of residencies and fellowships and integration with Tufts University Medical School. MMC admits 2000+ trauma patients, 600+ Critical Care patients, and 1600 emergency general surgery patients each year.
