Whalen Family Trauma Center which is part of MidHudson Regional Hospital, a 200-bed community hospital, and a Member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth). With over 20 years of experience as a New York State designated Level II trauma center, MidHudson Regional Hospital, recently passed a rigorous peer review process to become the Hudson Valley’s first and only trauma care program verified “Level II” by the American College of Surgeons (ACS). We are seeking a board certified and fellowship trained critical care surgeon with a minimum of 2-5 years of experience, to join our busy Trauma service. There will be the opportunity to develop an elective surgical practice in addition to covering in-house trauma and acute care surgery. In addition, interested candidates may choose to rotate through Westchester Medical Center, the region’s only Level 1 trauma center, located in Valhalla, NY. The successful candidate will join a team of four trauma surgeons with a large complement of in house Advanced Practice Providers. JOB DESCRIPTION Surgical Associates, SC of Wausau, WI is a physician-owned group of 13 surgeons providing an array of general and specialty surgical care, including a Trauma/Acute Care Surgery division. We are currently seeking an experienced inpatient surgicalist to join our Trauma and Acute Care Service, based at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, a 325 bed tertiary care center of Wausau, Wisconsin. The position will offer a competitive compensation package, along with a quality incentive bonus, with sign-on bonus and relocation reimbursement available. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 1. Responsible for all trauma and acute care surgery consults, both inpatient and ED; minimal elective surgery responsibilities. 2. Exam patient and make an initial assessment 3. Conduct diagnostic test like X-rays, CT scans and MRI’s 4. Diagnose the injury or illness and determine the appropriate medical procedure 5. (Posted Nov 2, 2017) – The Indiana University School of Medicine's General Surgery Division is seeking a general surgeon with fellowship training in trauma/surgical critical care or acute care surgery and will be board certified/eligible in surgical critical care. Surgeons will be working in an academic hospital and affiliated community hospitals in the Indiana University Health network. The Indiana University Health Physicians network is one of the premier tertiary centers in the state of Indiana. Indiana University Health (IUH) Methodist has consistently been among the top-ranked institutions as graded by the University Health Consortium (UHC). For the past several years, IUH Methodist has admitted more than 3,500 trauma patients annually, placing it among the largest 5% of trauma centers by volume. There is also a busy Emergency General Surgery (EGS) Service - nearly as voluminous as the Trauma Service - that draws patients from the entire state. As a result, there are two in-house Acute Care Surgeons 24/7: one serves as the primary on-call Trauma Surgeon, and the other serves as the primary EGS surgeon, also serving as in-house backup for the Trauma Surgeon. IUH Methodist operates the largest neuroscience critical care units and hosts one of the largest critical care departments in the country. Both neurosurgical and orthopedic attending surgeons are in-house 24/7. Neurosurgical, Emergency Medicine, Anesthesiology, Critical Care, and Radiology attending physicians are also physically in-house 24/7. There are 130 critical care beds throughout the institution. It has the first, largest, and most comprehensive intensive care patient electronic monitoring system (e-ICU) in Central Indiana. The hospital serves as the home base for a fleet of four LifeLine Helicopters as well as fixed wing transport capabilities. There are approximately 100,000 ED visits per year. IUH Methodist is the flagship of the statewide IU Health Healthcare Network and the evolving IU Health Trauma System. IU Health, in turn, has partnered with Indiana University to form an expanded multispecialty group called IU Health Physicians, which will serve as the employer for new acute care surgeons. Candidates would be expected to provide General Surgery and Acute Care Surgery (trauma, emergency general surgery, and surgical critical care) services in the ED, OR, ICU floor, and clinic to injured patients coming through the IUH Methodist system. In addition, there is an opportunity to establish an elective general surgery practice, as well. Candidates will be responsible for providing patient care, teaching residents and students in their specialty of trauma surgery and participating in clinical research in one of the largest medical schools in the country. The successful candidate must be BE/BC. Prefer fellowship training in Trauma/Critical Care, but not required. The candidate should have exemplary clinical skills, a team spirit and an interest in teaching and scholarly activity. Faculty rank will be commensurate with experience. The Department of Surgery has regionally and nationally recognized faculty covering all areas of surgery, and includes an American College of Surgeons verified Level 1 Trauma Center, an Acute Care Service at a Level 2 Trauma Center as well as an American Burn Association verified Burn Center. Forbes is located in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, 20 minutes east of downtown Pittsburgh. Forbes Hospital started its now accredited, Level II Trauma Program on January 1, 2013 and has been the leading care provider in Pittsburgh’s eastern suburbs for over 30 years. Over that time, they have grown their services to meet their patients’ and community’s needs. As a 350-bed facility with 15,000 inpatient admissions, 12,000 surgeries, and nearly 50,000 emergency department visits annually, Forbes provides an advanced level of care to our patients. Position Overview Two trauma/critical care surgeons staff the day shift M-F, 7 AM-7 PM. During holidays, weekends and night shifts there is one surgeon in house with a second surgeon at home on backup call. All surgeons are currently required to cover at least five in house night shifts per month as well as cover an equal share of night back-up call. The trauma surgeons provide critical care for trauma and surgical patients in the new 20-bed Intensive Care Unit. The Trauma Service support staff includes 6 advanced practice providers. One is present 24/7 and two during Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday daytime. Forbes is a teaching hospital and has residents present at all times, including general surgery residents. There is at least one surgery resident in house 24/7. The residents respond to highest-level trauma activations unless they are in the operating room. The qualified candidate should be board certified in Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. Board-eligible graduates of critical care fellowships with excellent interpersonal communication skills, experience delivering healthcare via collaborative teamwork and a professional goal to practice in one location for at least five years will also be considered. The ability to obtain and maintain a Pennsylvania Medical License and privileges with AHN are required.
