More than ever before, the fields of trauma surgery, interventional radiology, and vascular surgery are intertwined. Patients with complex polytrauma require intervention from multiple specialties, and much must be learned about ways in which the care of these patients can be optimized. Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC) is an ACS-verified Adult and Pediatric Level I trauma center located about 90 miles east of Los Angeles, CA. We are offering a 2 year full-time research fellowship focused on the interface between these specialties. Projects to be completed by the fellow include work on the PROOVIT 2 multicenter trial, a prospective single-center study of the hybrid OR at LLUMC, and others. No clinical duties or moonlighting are required but they may be permitted for individuals with a CA medical license. However, licensure is not required. Compensation & Benefits The compensation range listed is for starting base compensation only and is adjusted based upon years of experience and/or faculty rank: $71,760 - $80,000. This amount does not include variable compensation or extra productivity and is subject to the individual department compensation plans. Time spent treating patients will consist of evaluation and management of Trauma and Emergency General Surgery patients at our urban level I and level II trauma centers. Attending faculty perform 24/7 in-house call with Trauma and Emergency General Surgery in-house coverage. There are also opportunities for an elective general surgery practice. Faculty will also have the opportunity to cover one of the Surgical Intensive Care Units (ICUs) as part of our overall clinical mission as a division. The Surgical ICUs have a mixture of surgical patients including: trauma, transplant, vascular, thoracic, orthopedic, plastic, obstetric, gynecologic-oncology, endocrine, and general surgical services. Fellows are present in the ICUs as they participate in an integrated fellowship between the Departments of Surgery and Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine. Resident, fellow and medical student supervision and instruction are major components of the position. Education is focused on general surgery residents, ICU fellows and Acute Care Surgery fellows. The attending is expected to help with formal didactic teaching. Research endeavors will be encouraged and supported. Clinical research and outcome studies are abundant. Our current faculty have close collaborations with the Johns Hopkins Surgery Center for Outcomes Research (JSCOR), The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and the Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality. (Posted Apr 18, 2024) – Acclaim Multispecialty Group, in partnership with John Peter Smith Hospital, is recruiting for an experienced, fellowship trained, trauma critical care surgeon to become our next trauma medical director. Located in Fort Worth, Texas, JPS hospital is the safety net hospital for Tarrant County, and is an ACS-verified Level I and emergency general surgery-verified hospital (one of only five in the country presently). JPS cares for over 127,000 emergency department patients, 60,000 urgent care patients, and 3,400 trauma patients with a penetrating rate of 15-18%. We manage over 3,000 emergency general surgery patients per year, of which 1,800-2,000 patients require operative intervention. Our acute care surgery service is divided among 5 teams, plus SICU and geriatric trauma services. We are integrated with the Baylor University Medical Center general surgery residency and we have rotating general surgery residents from the William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso and Baylor All Saints Medical Center in Fort Worth. In addition, we have several rotating residents on the surgery services and very experienced advanced practice providers.
