Nurse Practitioner II – Perioperative/Surgical Services Part-time (35 hrs/wk), Job #499555, 499579 In this role, you will be responsible for the assessment of selected patients in the designated service. You will perform physical examinations, confer with patients in person and by phone/electronically, collaborate with others in the department to ensure smooth flow of patient care consistent with established quality indicators, and participate in the overall coordination of patient care. Qualifications include: • At least six months of experience as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) • One year (within the past three years) of experience as a NP providing care for patients undergoing surgical procedures and/or those who have undergone surgical/invasive procedures • RN First Assist experience required if assisting with surgical procedures. If only caring for specific patient population of adult or pediatrics then Acute Adult NP or Acute Pediatric NP required • A master’s degree in nursing (unless already a Kaiser Permanente employee who was ‘grandfathered in’ prior to California Business and Professions Code requirement in January 1, 2008) • Completion of a master’s program in Adult NP, Family Practice NP, Acute Care NP, or Pediatric NP required (Adult, Family, or Acute NP if practice limited to adults; Family or Pediatric NP if practice limited to pediatric patients) • The ability to meet credentialing requirements established for nurse practitioners within the Kaiser Permanente system. National Certification from one of the following organizations: American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, American Credentialing Center, National Certification Corporation for Obstetric, Gynecologic, and Neonatal Nursing Specialties if working in obstetrics, gynecologic or neonatal specialties, and National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses if working in pediatrics • A current California RN/NP License with California BRN issued Furnishing Number • A current BLS • A NPI with the ability to meet Medicare requirements for PTAN (Provider Transaction Account Number) • Current DEA if required for specialty • Depending on the particular specialty, ACLS, NALS, PALS, and/or PEARS may also be required Physician Assistant Part-time (35 hrs/wk), Job #499563, 499616, 499649 In this role, you will provide high quality, efficient, team based patient focused care. You will be responsible for managing patients in the office, hospital, Emergency Department, and/or perioperative setting. You may be required to First Assist in the Operating Room or perform other department specific procedures as well as facilitate on call responsibilities for your supervising physician. Daily responsibilities may vary based upon the department and supervising physician needs and may require evening or weekend hours. Qualifications include: • A graduate from an ARC-PA accredited physician assistant program • A California State Physician Assistant License, issued by the Physician Assistant Board under Medical Board of California. • NCCPA certified at time of hire and maintained throughout your career at Kaiser Permanente • BLS certification • A National Provider Identifier (NPI) or the ability to obtain one prior to employment start date with the ability to meet current Medicare requirements for billing • Advanced certification in specialty area preferred • ACLS certification preferred • May be required to have experience and competency in performing specific tasks required by the specific department • Excellent patient management skills in hospital and outpatient setting. Managing hospitalized, post-operative patients will be 75% - 80% of the job. • The ability to support and understand the complexity of cases in a busy practice and the ability to first assist in the OR, in general surgery and specialty surgery • The ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment External hires must pass a background check/drug screen.
