Hartford Hospital
(Posted May 29, 2018) – Join a busy well established Acute Care Surgery practice at one of the highest volume surgical hospitals in the Northeast. Hartford Hospital is an 867 bed tertiary care academic medical center and is the only Level I Trauma Center in the city with a population of 127,000 people and a catchment area of 1.5 million. The Trauma Center located at Hartford Hospital is at the heart of Hartford HealthCare, a five hospital comprehensive, integrated health system. The network is served by Hartford Hospital’s own helicopter service, LifeStar since 1985. It is part of a larger Trauma Institute that has a proud history as the origin of the ATOM course, a longstanding footprint in global trauma care, four Surgical Critical Care fellows, two AAST-approved Acute Care Surgery fellows and more recently the Hartford Consensus that has culminated in the worldwide Stop-the-Bleed Campaign. The hospital boasts a brand new building housing the Center for Education, Simulation, and Innovation (CESI), one of the most advanced medical simulation training centers in the world. The members of the Trauma Service teach multiple offerings in ATLS, ATOM and ASSET courses during the year. The Trauma Center is one component of an active Acute Care Surgery service of 8 surgeons within a hospital with greater than 106,000 ED visits and over 2000 trauma admissions per year. There are abundant opportunities for trauma-related research, participation in medical education, and academic promotion within the system at the University of Connecticut Medical School. We offer highly competitive compensation, robust benefits and an exceptional quality of life. Located just two hours from Boston and New York City, we are in the heart of some of New England’s most stunning communities offering your family nationally acclaimed school systems, a choice to live on the shoreline, in vibrant areas, or in a Kiplinger “Top 10 Best City to Raise a Family” and Travel and Leisure’s “Coolest Suburb in America”. So you will love heading to work…and heading home!
